Help!

I got a couple of comments this weekend that weren't really comments. They led to websites about computer viruses, and I couldn't click out of them. Is this spam? Is this why blogs have the encrypted code after comments? I haven't had this problem before!! Please advise!

I don't know. I've had spam comments, but I had no trouble clicking out of them and I could delete the comment at will.

Maybe you ought to run some virus software, just to be sure.

Yup, that's spam, in all it's glory. Sorry. :)

yes, I just recently starting getting these too. I think I may have to break down and use the handicapped option where you have to type in the letters at the end of the comment. That's supposed to help I think.

Don't click over to any links on any comments unless you know the commenter. Hopefully you didn't get a virus by clicking over. Have Pete check it out.

I had some spam when I first started my blog. That's why I added the encryption code. Just to be safe.

Sorry you were spammed. :0(

YYikes!!! I"ve had the same experience. And, I do have a suggestion.

Since you are using Blogger.com and I'm not as familiar with that as I am with WordPress, I was wondering if it had any plug-ins that you can activate against spam. Check in your dashboard to see.

Are you hosting your site on your own ISP server? Or is it hosted on Blogger's servers? If it is on your own, maybe you could search for plug-ins to add functionality of catching spam.

I got them too. I put up those stinkin' letters that I have to re-type 3 times before I can get them right, but I haven't had any problems since then.

My husband accidently clicked on one of these spams, got a virus, couldn't get out or open any of his files, spent $200 at a computer store to fix it---and his computer still ran like molasses. It took my son two weeks to clean everything off his computer to restore speed. Such a bother.
