Sink Your Teeth Into It

I've always admired people who bite off more than they can chew, and then chew it.

I used to be one of those. I spent so many of my younger years over-extending myself to the point of utter exhaustion. In fact, I had a 'complete physical breakdown' in the mid-1980s, as my doctor called it. I am nowhere NEAR as anal as I used to be about a lot of things. Self-preservation and a desire to at least see my grandchild graduate, I guess. I now look back on those horrific years and wonder WHY did I do that to myself?!? Did I think I was trying to make life 'better' by being 'perfect' in every aspect of my life?? My Dear Hubby and kids have all told me my 'relaxed version' is so much easier to live with, so I obviously wasn't making THEIR life easier, ha! I'm not even sure this is what you were saying here, but this is what I came away from it with.
