We're not in a human race. It's more of a relay/ marathon. When we can, we grab someone's baton and let them jog along for a while, unfettered. When we need to, we pass off the baton to whoever is closest. If one of us drops out of the contest, we all lose, but if the whole team finishes, we all win.
It's not a 50-yard dash, and it's not about who gets there first. It's all about staying power.

I ran a marathon about 3 years ago and I think it relates very well to your thought. It didn't matter (to most of us) who was first--what mattered was finishing and doing our best. We all gave and received a lot of support and cheering along the way. At the end of the race, my family was waiting for me and cheering me on. When I think of our eternal race in the perspective of my marathon, I love thinking of our heavenly family waiting for us at the finish line!
Cute photo and great thought...
A very cute photo!
that was a great thought...you are so right...but aren't you always?
This is a great analogy. I really love it.
