And then I was born.

And then I was born.
"Our lives are so important to us that we tend to think the story begins with our birth. Yet that is not so. We are the continuation of someone else's story."

This memoir is how I remember my own life. If you were there, you might recall something differently. It's OK. Your version can be written in your memoir.

"The research for what you are writing is your whole life—I mean, there is one world expert on it: you. For what you are writing there is no other authority."

"I never travel without my diary. One should have something sensational to read on the train."

"I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I have ended up where I intended to be."

The Author

Oma is a long-time wife (to Dee) retired stay-at-home mom (to seven kids) and current traveling grandma (to 21 grands who live all around the country.)

Oma gives advice, wise and otherwise, to anyone who'll listen. She consults on family matters, travel, books, writing, and living happily ever after. Her specialty is remembering.

"Like all great travelers, I have seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen."

Write Away
"I try to leave out the parts that people skip."

On Record Keeping

"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some of them may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience." Gordon B. Hinckley, 2006
