Apartment living has had its perks: a guy comes to change our furnace filters and fire alarm batteries. They wash our windows regularly, and fix our dryer or disposal whenever we call. We haven't missed mowing the lawn or shoveling the snow, but there are some things we have missed.
A little touch of green.
(Luckily, someone else will mow it.)
What do you love about where you live?

I love the view from our apartment. I love watching storms roll into and across the valley. I love the sounds of the city and the diversity of the downtown population. I love being able to walk 5 minutes and be out of the city in City Creek canyon. I love that we can get along with just one car - most of the time. And the list goes on...
ReplyDeleteBut like you, I miss my own front door, a patio, a place to BBQ, a bit of green for grand kids to play, plus a bit of a garden and a place large enough for my dining room table and piano.
The trade offs are my constant dilemma about downtown, apartment living.
I'll tell you one thing, I don't love the humidity. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the room off my kitchen where my desk is. I sit there, facing the lush, green back yard, and work on my computer. It makes me so happy.
I love our huge backyard. It is a pain to mow... but so much fun for the kids.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the big move!! I'm so excited for you both. I've heard nothing but awesomeness about Daybreak. :)
Windows. I love windows. We had one house with bay windows. We had another house with windows on three sides of the breakfast area. Right now our apartment has ceiling to floor windows that show tall buildings to the west and mountains to the east and the plants on the balcony.
ReplyDeleteThat place is so cute. I love a comfy couch, with a spot to put my feet, and a gorgeous view to look at every once in a while. Oh, and also a dishwasher.
ReplyDeleteI hopw you put some pictures up of your new place.
Cant wait to be neighbors! Good luck moving, let us know if you need help! Al is the Elders Quorum pres so he is used to moving people! :)
ReplyDeleteMarty, Congratulations on the move. We've also looked at Daybreak houses! My nephew and his family live there. I love it! Lucky you.
ReplyDeletei love my garden, i love my comfy chairs. i love my bedroom. i love my neighbors. as extremely happy as i am where i am, i think anyplace can be made into a home when love is there.
ReplyDeletewe moved into a very old house. and i hated it! i wanted to move OUT almost as fast as we moved IN, but then we started to fix it up and my attitude changed, this house became my home and all the nicks and bruises it got was because one of my kids did it, and that lends history to any house. this is the house my kids are growing up in, each room has a flood of memories. i hope to NEVER leave!
ReplyDeleteI love where our house is. We have a beautiful view of the mountains and also a stunning one of the Salt Lake valley. I love that our home is comfortable, not fancy; it's a home my grandchildren can (and have) live in.
