Bah, Humbug!

I got Scrooged.

I always thought Sub-for-Santa was a voluntary thing, but last night I donated a few presents I hadn't planned on giving. My Christmas spirit was shattered when I saw broken glass all around my car this morning, but the only thing the burglars took was a catch-all box I keep between the front seats. They got:
  1. Six empty CD covers
  2. Four different "Oma's Christmas Mix" CDs
  3. A full package of raisins (my healthy snack)
  4. An empty package of Peppermint Bark (my reality snack)
  5. Some extra parking validations
  6. Six bucks
  7. My make-up kit stocked with well-used favorites
  8. A cherished, old, blue bandanna from Salzburg
  9. The little notebook with addresses of restaurants I want to try
  10. Dee's clip-on sunglasses
I wish they'd just left a Christmas list. I would happily give them a lot more than they took. I'm just not that thrilled with the snowflake pattern decorating my car window. Guess what I'm getting now.

oh yeah. merry Christmas.

  1. Boo! I am so sorry! :(

I felt a similar feeling when my wallet was stolen a couple of months ago from our little town grocery store. I was so disheartened & it took me a couple of weeks to get over it. Here's hoping the hubby & kids cheer you up so you feel the Christmas spirit again. Not all of us are meanies, I promise.

  2. I hate that violated feeling that comes with a break-in or theft. Our car was broken into on our honeymoon, and our house one time when we were on vacation. Luckily nothing of real value was taken either time, and even more importantly, nothing of real sentimental value.

  3. Bad karma on that person for sure. Most crooks don't have the sense God gave a peanut. A while back we were broken into but all they took was the face plate to the CD player which left both of us with something of no use. Go figure.

  4. WHAT!? this is outrageous. our home was burglarized this past summer... the reality is it's just absolutely annoying. no feeling violated, no feeling remorseful; just seriously annoying.

i LOVE the list of stolen goods though. it's a sweet little way of saying "in your face, little burglar." hopefully they get a cavity from the reality snack.

  5. Where was your car? Tell me it was not in the parking under your apartment building.

May the rest of your Christmas be filled with joy!

  7. that's awful! i hate hearing stories like that! maybe a way of looking at it is the person might need that blue bandanna more than you. should of asked you for it, cause you would have given it to them.

  8. I'm telling you - keep your eyes out for someone sporting that bandana and your fabulous make-up. Then wjen you see them, tackle them to the ground while Opi calls 911. LAME!

  11. That just plain sucks! A plate of Christmas treats will help to ease the frustration.

  13. I am SO sorry, Marty. Luckily there was nothing more valuable in the car, but I know it hurts to lose the ordinary, everyday stuff too.

  14. I think I'd feel the loss of the make-up favorites the most. They are like old friends, aren't they?

I'm so sorry. I'm very impressed that you know what's in your catch-all.
