- Know when something is upside down
- Perceive danger
- Appreciate lovely scents
- Feel the mood of the crowd
- Anticipate cold
- Steel myself for pain
- Wait for food
- Smell fire
- Read
- Entertain myself with my thoughts
- Plan ahead to accomplish tasks
- Organize my surroundings
- Drive to a new address
- Feed myself without getting it in my hair
- Clean up a kitchen quickly
- Follow directions
- Wait without having a tantrum
- Sense a need for quiet
- Make unpleasant phone calls
- Talk to strangers
- Create a pleasant atmosphere
- Face a crisis
- Eat something that looks yukky
- Smile when I've been insulted
- Hold my head up when I'm embarrassed
- Tackle a job I don't know how to do
- Look calm when my knees are shaking
- Pretend I'm having a good time
- Say no to someone asking for a favor
- Turn on the computer
- Understand why old people rant about changes in the world
- Remember why young people think they invented the world
- Recall the poetic lyrics to classic songs
- Watch black and white movies without whining
- Wait out a bad mood
- Accept a compliment
- Expect respect
- Laugh at irreverence
- Put financial problems in perspective
- Love others with no expectations
- Let my kids make decisions
- Follow a football game
- Value another opinion
- Discern when a person is genuine
- Choose which traditions I'll follow
- Trust my intuition
- Appreciate old friends, even if I never see them
- Pray with total faith that I'm heard
- Accept that I'm not always right

Marty--I just entered my 60th year also. 9-9-49. It was a good year and September is the best month to be born! Some of the finest people I know were born in September--including YOU!
