Thoughts

There are a lot of well-intentioned women who are very weird. I know some of them and they are out to get me.

My dad used to say, "Everyone is crazy except you and I, and lately I'm beginning to wonder about you." Was he right?

When you're the only normal person you know, are you really abnormal?

Why do people assume the world revolves around them (when it really revolves around me)?

Should I get a yellow dress?

These are some of the things I'm pondering tonight.

  1. For a long time I've asked myself..."What is normal?" Honestly Marty, I don't think there's an answer; and I don't think anyone is normal...all the time. I think we have 'break-out' moments of lunacy frankly. My kids laugh at me all the time and think I'm nutty....but always with love. I always have felt I'm as 'normal' as they come. I can be as silly as anyone at times...or even touchy...just like anyone else. I think it all falls in the range of normalcy, don't you? I only get a peek at you through your writing and your beautiful picture on your blog. You look and sound wonderfully "normal" to me. Maybe you ARE the most normal person you know. I've felt that way on occasion.

But by all means....go get that yellow dress! Maybe I'll get one too.

  2. Always remember..."normal" is in the eye of the beholder.

And every woman should have at least one yellow dress so go for it...I'm right behind you.

  3. you're as normal as i am...we both know that....buy the yellow dress or any other if it's cute...we once had a lady at church that stood up and told us she had worn this yellow dress becasue the lord told her to, to make her humble...she didnt want to, but she did...she said it was ugly, but she needed humbling..so, since then, i've steered away from yellow dresses...

  4. I have a little decorated sign on my kitchen wall (I found it at an antique show) which says "All the world is queer but thee and me, and sometimes I wonder about thee."

I think we ALL feel that way, don't we? LOL

  6. Oh, honey...I am about as eccentric as they come. Normal? Probably never in my life. Even at a young age I realized I definitely go thru life to the beat of a different drummer. But, you know...that's ok. I love life. I come from a very non-religious background until I became a Christian at 22 and one of the first books I read was "In His Steps" where the question thru the whole books was, "What would Jesus do?" It made a tremendous impression on my young, starved mind and, after spending the first 22 years in a life full of bitterness, blasphemy, and just a downright mean spirit, I decided I'd try to live the rest of my life asking myself the same question and trying to be as good an example as I could be to the world around me. Believe me, in THIS world that makes a person stand out as a little 'different', lol! "To thine own self be true"...we're never happy trying to be someone we aren't. It's just not possible. Sooner or later we get found out.

  7. As the title of Patsy Clairmont's book says, Normal Is Just a Setting on Your Dryer."
